M.C. Law Group uses different fee arrangements depending on the type and complexity of the matter. Before representation begins, the client receives a written agreement identifying the scope of work and the applicable legal fees. Court costs, government filing fees, experts, translations, records, and other third-party expenses may be separate.
Brief Initial Phone Evaluation
We offer a brief initial telephone evaluation to determine whether the matter appears to warrant a full attorney consultation and whether it falls within the firm’s current services. This preliminary screening conversation is not a legal consultation and does not create an attorney-client relationship. For personal-injury inquiries, the initial case evaluation is provided without charge.
Paid Attorney Consultations
Detailed legal advice requires time to review facts, history, documents, deadlines, and possible alternatives. Immigration and other attorney consultations are generally paid. Staff will explain the current consultation fee and what documents to provide before scheduling. When stated in the engagement terms, a consultation payment may be credited toward a later legal fee if the firm is retained.
Representation and Written Agreements
Depending on the matter, representation may use a flat fee, staged flat fees, hourly billing, a contingency arrangement where legally and factually appropriate, or another written structure. The agreement will identify the included work, excluded services, payment schedule, and responsibility for outside costs.
Why Fees Vary
Two matters with similar labels may require very different work. Prior filings, contested facts, court involvement, urgent deadlines, multiple family members, waivers, appeals, expert evidence, or extensive records can affect the scope and fee. We quote fees after obtaining enough information to define the anticipated work responsibly.
